Webinar Description
There are many ways to reward workers other than by the payment of wages. Smart business executives understand the importance of providing employees with fringe benefits such as paying education expenses, subsidizing commutation costs, and offering wellness programs. The IRS has categorized many different types of fringe benefits and set limitations on the types of benefits and the dollar amounts that will not be taxed as income to the employee.
IRS auditors are also focusing on fringe benefits that constitute executive compensation. Stock options, golden parachutes, and deferred compensation, among other perks, are designed to retain executive talent. An employer must know how to account for these benefits in order to avoid payroll tax audits and personal income tax audits of the executives.
