Coronavirus: Feds Urge Businesses to Prepare for This Serious Workplace Threat

Duration: 90 minutes

Speaker: Dr. Jim Castagnera, Esq.

Webinar Description

Coronavirus is spreading rapidly throughout the world, and declaring a worldwide pandemic now appears likely.  In the U.S. the Centers for Disease Control are saying that an outbreak will happen in the United States.  So much is still unknown about this virus, but health officials are urging businesses to prepare for this serious potential workplace health threat. While there’s still time employers are being asked to review and update their business continuity plans for how they will protect their employees and continue to function should any outbreak impact them. There will be crucial management decisions concerning your employees. These will involve handling multiple factors including what is best for your employees, what is good for the community, what is best for your business, and implementation that does not violate the rights of any employee.  You’ll need reliable answers to key questions.

Most important, what can you do to prepare and what actions can you take without violating provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII, and/or other state and federal laws? Please join Dr. Jim Castagnera, labor and employment attorney with 36 years’ experience, as he explains what actions can and should be taken to minimize this threat to your employees and your business.  Find out what employee-related actions federal laws and relevant regulations permit employers to do before, during, and in the aftermath of an outbreak. Dr. Castagnera will also provide guidance for updating crucial aspects of your business continuity plan.
