Health Reimbursement Arrangements – New Opportunities for Expanded Benefits for Employees

Duration: 90 minutes

Speaker: Sarah Ivy

Webinar Description

In June 219, the Internal Revenue Service, the US Department of Labor and the US Department of Health and Human Services issued a new regulation intended to increase the use of health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) as a means of expanding access to health insurance in the individual insurance market. The new regulation, which will take effect on January 1, 2020, is intended to give employers the opportunity to offer greater health insurance options to their employees.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employers generally are not permitted to cover individual health premiums through an HRA.  However, the new regulation permits the integration of a health reimbursement arrangement with individual health insurance under certain conditions.
