Make Sure You Have the Right Employment Liability Insurance
Duration: 90 minutes
Speaker: Bob Gregg
Webinar Description
Employment cases are the largest single category of civil litigation and one of the greatest liability factors for any organization. Just losing one case can throw a company into bankruptcy or wipe out all profits for the year. So, Employment Practice Liability (EPL) Insurance is a crucial protection. EPL can give assurance when making employment decisions and protect against disaster when there is a losing case. However, there are a number of different EPL policies. Employers have been surprised to find they did not have the coverage they thought. That can be an expensive lesson.
This webinar by employment lawyer Robert Gregg will teach you what to look for in an EPL policy and give you practical advice so that you know what you are paying for and you get the protection you need.
Agenda
- What should ELP cover?
- The major liability issues.
- Assessing your risk factors.
- Standard exclusions.
- Getting adequate “real” protection; EPL-Plus. Personal liability is on the increase. Coverage of managers, agents (and your family assets).
- The checklist you must have.
- Buyer beware: Do the exclusions take away the protections you thought you bought?
- Cautions in contract language. Understand the “terms” and definitions. Be aware of the pitfall terms (“illegal,” “criminal,” “intentional”).
- Effectively completing the application. Don’t lose the coverage due to incomplete/inaccurate application.
- Pre-application Assessment lower the premiums by being ready: Policies, rules, practices, records.
- What is a claim? Don’t waive coverage once you have it.
