Payroll Update for 2017
Duration: 90 minutes
Speaker: David Sanders
Webinar Description
New overtime regulations become effective on December 1, 2016
Starting in 2017 the Wage and Hour Division, Department of Labor (WHD), and the IRS will be very interested in your payroll – who’s on it and who isn’t – and, who should be. They are so interested, in fact, that their past enforcement efforts will increase.
On December 1, 2016, new rules take effect that will change the requirement of which of your employees is to receive overtime. This webinar will ensure that you understand the new regulation.
WHD has hired hundreds of inspectors to take a good look at organizations just like yours. Plus 27 states have partnered with WHD and IRS to combat employee misclassification (e.g., employees misclassified as independent contractors; nonexempt workers classified as being exempt). They do this through information sharing and coordinated enforcement. These enforcement efforts result in the collection of millions of dollars of back wages every year.
Can your company afford to make a million-dollar mistake? Case in point: Recently a US employer was assessed an $18.3 million dollar fine by the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL September 29, 2015).
What should you be concentrating on in 2017 with regard to your payroll? That’s what this information-packed webinar is all about.
