Webinar Description

Office parties are fun. They boost morale. They can also go over the line and result in company and personal liability. Holiday parties have ended up in court on issues of drunken driving, assault and battery, sexual harassment, racial and even religious discrimination. There have been findings of personal liability for HR Managers and CEOs. For instance, a supervisor was named as a defendant in an action brought by employees who demanded pay for time that the management thought was nonpaid socializing, and a company executive was found personally liable for having helped a drunk employee get into his car where he then injured others. The best way to address these unwanted consequences is not to cancel events, but to understand what safeguards you can put in place ahead of time in order to minimize the possibility of any unintended consequences.

This program explores “the line” between a good time and liability. What should you be aware of to protect your company and yourself?
