Effective Behavioral-Based Interviewing – Hire the Right Person the First Time

Duration: 90 minutes

Speaker: Teri Morning

Webinar Description

Spend more time to hire and less time to fire. It’s simple in that the better job you do interviewing applicants the better are your hiring decisions and the more your business will benefit. The cost of a bad hire can be significant. All too often untrained interviewers engage applicants in a conversation that’s more like a first date rather than an effective, probing analysis of the applicant’s strengths, weaknesses and chances of success.

Behavioral based interviewing (BBI) is the premise that there is no better predictor of what an applicant will do in the future, than what they have done in the past.

Competency based interviewing (CBI) seeks to determine if an applicant has the competencies critical to successful job performance. BBI and CBI used together can be a powerful predictor of how people will react in specific situations.

Motivational interviewing (MI) uses the best parts of BBI and CBI and adds in a third dimension – Why? What moves people to do what they do. MI can be powerfully predictive, as close to a crystal ball as you’ll likely get.

Combining behavioral, competency and motivational interviewing will give you critical knowledge to make better hiring decisions.

This webinar will arm you with knowledge which we will apply to three practical applications.
